Extended Language Program

The Extended Language Program (ELP) is designed for students in grades 6 and above. The program incorporates all aspects of language development, namely writing skills, comprehension skills and strategies, vocabulary, and grammar.

Skill Specific Comprehension

Reading comprehension is very important for a student’s academic achievement. Strong comprehension skills ensure success in all subject areas. It is a prerequisite for acquiring knowledge and expressing opinions and ideas. The program works extensively on comprehension skills and strategies. Students develop a stronger understanding of the text, improve upon reading speed and fluency through carefully curated engaging reading passages.

Vocabulary

There is a strong, unequivocal relation between comprehension skills and a good vocabulary. At ileap, we conduct activities that encourage students to connect new vocabulary to prior knowledge, use the word in reading, writing and conversations

Grammar

Grammar is an important tool for written and spoken language. Students develop a good understanding of sentence style and structure in order to excel at tests and writing assignments.

Writing Skills

The comprehensive writing program includes sessions on the structure of writing and different genres of writing. For the beginning, struggling, or reluctant writers, this structured program provides an essential foundation in thinking and writing skills. For proficient and advanced writers, it offers strategies, techniques, and opportunities to apply them.
